boneless skinless chicken thighs 8
soy sauce 2/3 cup
sprite 1/2 cup
lemon juice 1/4 cup
toasted sesame oil 1/2 tsp
sugar 3 tbsp
garlic powder 1/2 tsp
onion powder 1/2 tsp
turmeric 1/4 tsp
ground ginger 1/4 tsp
black pepper 1/4 tsp


  1. Spread chicken thighs so they can lay flat and then place in a zip lock bag
  2. Combine all other ingredients and mix well
  3. Add ¾ of marinade to bag with chicken and then ensure the marinade reaches all pieces of meat
  4. Remove as much air as possible and then seal and place in refrigerator for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight
  5. Place remaining sauce in a small sauce pan and simmer for 20-30 minutes, until about ¾-1/2 of the mixture remains
  6. Let sauce cool and place in an air tight container in the refrigerator
  7. After chicken has marinated, cook on the BBQ grill, preferably charcoal and cook on the flat side done for a few minutes, until the grate marks the meat
  8. Turnover and then baste the chicken with the reduced marinade
  9. Repeat process until chicken is cooked

Cooking this chicken over a gas grill is ok and will work fine. The flavor is decent but in order to get the best flavor, use charcoal as it will add to the flavor of the meat.

Most people who eat this chicken tell me this is by far the best chicken they have had and I end up service 2 or more pieces to everyone.
